#GUIDING INTERESTS

Serra Tansel’s practice engages with the ways in which we settle into our world, our cities, our homes and our bodies and the structures, the relationships we establish within them. She makes use of a wide range of aesthetics and media such as billboards, shop signs and stock images in order to twist, undermine and infiltrate into mainstream cultures and narratives.

She is a member of the collectives Hayırlı Evlat they founded with İpek Hamzaoğlu and Gizem Karakaş; Makkam they founded with Alper Oruç, Daniela Nofal and Yamen Makdad; and Bonnington Café that has been running since the 1980’s.
