From 6 to 9 September in the Medina of Tunis in Dar Hadded as part of the festival of light INTERFERENCE2018 MRABBAA / المربع
“Mrabaa” is an installation made of wires. It is fragile and ephemeral and was designed and made in situ on the patio of Dar Hadded, located at the dead end of the artillery in Tunis.
Dar Hadded is one of the oldest palaces of the Medina of Tunis dating from the 16th century.
The installation I made and weaved with the precious help of a team of young volunteers comes to stand in the heart of the patio of this historic monument, like a spider web as if to protect it. Looking up to the square of the sky we see a canvas of rotating squares forming rosettes, like several ornaments and motifs of Arab-Muslim or Arab-Andalusian art. The light projected onto the canvas screen on the rhythm of percussion “Mrabaa tounsi”, comes by its flicker fragmenting the structure of the installation.

Mouna Jemal Siala Artworks

“My art articulates the digital, the virtual and the real. Concerned by the need to preserve memory of an action, an event, an experience, i furrow my personal story, linking in a way my life and my art. My triplets, my woman’s body and events in my country are the main vectors my work.”
